Couture Fashion Week

The fashion pack descended upon Paris for Couture Fashion Week to check out the latest glamourous offerings from some of the top designers, including Chanel, Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino.

With so many fab designers I had to dedicate a post choosing out my highlights of Couture week. There where some shows that blew me away, mainly Elie Saab, and some that where a bit disappointing, sorry ladies but Chanel just was not my cup of tea, as they say!

The Highlights

Elie Saab
What can I say about Elie Saab's collection. Words cannot describe how beautifully constructed this magnificent collection was. Check out the picture's for yourself rather than reading me talk about how amazing the collection was.

Versace
I am a major fan of Versace and their latest couture collection did not disappoint, in fact it was one of my favourite shows. The collection had the Versace essence; it had the bling, neon colours, sequins and then sprinkled on gold and a dash of Eighties vibe to finish it off, making it an overall powerful and stand out collection.

Jean Paul Gaultier
It was like being in Morocco and India whilst watching JPG's show and the influence of these two countries on the latest couture collection was prominent. There were some pieces that I wasn't too fond of; the stripes - but that is just because I am not a fan of stripes. At the same time some pieces stood out for me; the glam dresses to the power suits. Nothing like a good suit!

Valentino
Valentino, the master of couture, was so pleased with this show that he stood up and congratulated Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, who have been the two designers behind the label for the past five years. The collection was modern yet feminine with a colour palette that featured plenty of red, black and cream.

Chanel
Although not one of my personal favourites, how can I not mention Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld was influenced by A Midsummer's Night Dream with a Gothic twist for this couture offering. The way the runway was designed was perfect allowing the audience to feel like they had entered an enchanted forest as they watched the collection, which featured plenty of tailoring and tweed, make it's way down the runway.

So Stylista's what did you think of Couture fashion week, any shows you think I should have mentioned? What did you think of the shows? Leave your comments below.
